Who we are...

Both sharing a love for horses and the outdoors we are very fortunate to take our passion and turn it into our profession. Both of us grew up on the back of a horse, pony, mule, donkey, or whatever else we could strap a saddle on. From the beginning we both grew up knowing our profession would, without a doubt, include horses. Both of us spent several years traveling all over the country working for several different horse trainers learning many different riding styles, until finally our paths led us together and HM Performance Horses was born.
HM Performance Horses is located in the breath taking foothills of the Carolina mountains on Heath's family farm. Nestled into a quaint holler at the base of the mountain sits 85 acres of rolling grass pasture with miles of mountainside trails in any direction we wish to go. We have a small private facility that includes a 15 stall barn, indoor and outdoor riding pens, paddocks, a hot walker, wash stall, heated office, and miles of trails.
Heath's passion in the horse business is starting young, well bred colts and giving them the solid fundamentals to go on to be a top notch reining horse. When Heath is not sitting on a horse he can usually be found underneath of one. He is an accomplished farrier that keeps our own horses as well as our customer's horses hooves in the best of shape.
Heather admits she rides a wide variety of horses and many different disciplines for her profession, but her real hobby is running barrels at the rodeos. She travels to many different rodeos and barrel horse shows where she can always be found with her faithful mount "Rascal". Rascal is Heather's greatest accomplishment in the horse business. He came to her as an unruly 3yr old bronc out of Clovis, New Mexico, but there was something about him that attracted Heather. That was 14 years ago and since then Heather has made a finished barrel horse out of him. She has competed at numerous rodeos up and down the east coast and placed at many invitation only events.
With help of friends, family, and great customers HM Performance Horses was born and continues to grow. We love to meet new friends in the business and expand our nationwide network so please contact us or plan a visit. We look forward to meeting you. Hope to see you soon!
Nothing is more sacred as the bond between a horse and a rider. No other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on, because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, and the very existence dies also.

A Rodeo Cowboy's Prayer
Our gracious and heavenly Father, we pause in the midst of this festive occasion, mindful and thoughtful of the guidance that you have given us.
As cowboys, Lord, we don't ask for any special favors, we ask only that you let us compete in this arena, as in lifes arena. We don't ask to never break a barrier, or to draw a round of steer that's hard to throw, or a chute fighting horse, or a bull that is impossible to ride. We only ask that you help us to compete as honest as the horses we ride and in a manner as clean and pure as the wind that blows across this great land of ours.
So when we do make that last ride that is inevitable for us all to make, to that place up there, where the grass is green and lush and stirrup high, and the water runs cool, clear, and deep -
You'll tell us as we ride in that our entry fees have been paid.
These things we ask - Amen
